Quick One-Minute Self-Check for Your Heart Health
You can catch early signs of heart trouble right at home—no machines or tests needed. These simple checks help you understand whether your heart is under stress or showing subtle warning symptoms.
✔️ 1. Pulse Rate Check (Wrist/Neck)
- Count your heartbeat for 60 seconds.
- Normal range: 60–100 bpm.
If it is consistently too high, too low, or irregular, it may signal heart strain.
✔️ 2. Breathlessness Test
- Walk in place for 1 minute.
- If you feel unusual breathlessness, chest tightness, or discomfort, this may indicate reduced heart efficiency.
✔️ 3. Chest & Shoulder Sensation
- Notice any tightness, heaviness, or pressure in the chest, left arm, jaw, or upper back while resting.
These can be subtle early warnings of heart issues.
✔️ 4. Swelling Check (Feet/Ankles)
- Press your finger on the lower leg or ankle for 3–4 seconds.
- If the indentation stays, it may indicate fluid retention, a sign of heart weakness.
✔️ 5. Fatigue Level Test
- Ask yourself: “Do I feel tired with very small activities like climbing 10–12 stairs?”
Unusual fatigue is often an early sign of declining heart function.
