When temperatures rise, the body loses more water through sweat. If you don’t drink enough fluids to compensate, your urine becomes highly concentrated. This concentrated urine allows minerals like calcium, oxalate, and uric acid to crystallize and form kidney stones.

According to experts, the most common and dangerous mistake people make in summer is not drinking enough water. Many people wait until they feel thirsty, but by that time the body may already be dehydrated.

Another factor is excessive consumption of sugary drinks, soft drinks, and salty foods, which can further increase the risk of stone formation. Lack of proper hydration combined with these habits creates the perfect environment for stones to develop.

Doctors recommend drinking at least 2.5–3 liters of water daily in hot weather, increasing intake if you sweat heavily. Eating water-rich foods like watermelon, cucumber, and citrus fruits can also help maintain hydration and protect kidney health.

Ignoring hydration in summer may seem like a small mistake, but over time it can put serious stress on your kidneys and significantly increase the risk of painful kidney stones.
