Street Food Lovers, Beware! ⚠️ Monsoon Can Increase the Risk of Liver Infection

During the rainy season, cut fruits, golgappas, chaat, fresh juices, and food kept in the open can become contaminated with dirty water, bacteria, or viruses. Consuming contaminated food and water may increase the risk of infections such as Hepatitis A and Hepatitis E, which can affect the liver.

Keep these precautions in mind:

  1. Avoid food kept in the open — It can easily become contaminated during the rainy season.
  2. Be careful with cut fruits and fresh juices — They may be exposed to contaminated water or unclean hands.
  3. Check the water used in golgappas and chaat — Contaminated water can increase the risk of infection.
  4. Wash your hands before eating — Good hand hygiene helps prevent infections.
  5. Do not ignore symptoms — Fatigue, vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, or yellowing of the eyes and skin may indicate a liver infection.
  6. Choose freshly cooked, hot food — Clean water and properly cooked food are safer choices.

Remember: Not all street food causes liver infections, but during the monsoon, the risk of infections from contaminated food and water can increase.
