Spending long hours on mobile phones and laptops often leads to poor posture, causing stiffness in the neck, shoulders, back, and joints. While sesame oil won’t instantly “give your bones new strength,” it has been valued in Ayurveda for its warming and nourishing properties and may help ease muscle stiffness when used for a gentle body massage (Abhyanga).
Sesame oil is rich in healthy fats, antioxidants, and minerals like calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus that support overall bone health as part of a balanced diet. Massaging with warm sesame oil may also improve blood circulation, reduce muscle tension, and promote relaxation, helping relieve body stiffness caused by prolonged sitting.
However, if you experience persistent pain, severe joint stiffness, or frequent back or neck discomfort, it’s important to improve your posture, take regular stretching breaks every 30–60 minutes, exercise regularly, and consult a healthcare professional if symptoms continue. Sesame oil can be a supportive self-care practice, but it should not be considered a treatment for bone diseases or chronic pain.
